Doug Moran, Elementary Principal
Doug Moran-PK-4 principal West Point-Beemer
I was born in Hyannis, Nebraska. My career in education and coaching has included serving in a variety of work places. My wife, Jeanne, is a teacher as is our oldest daughter, Hannah. Our other daughter, Lindsey, obtained her B.A. degree in nursing from UNMC. Both work in Lincoln which is a benefit due to our current location.
I have a B.A. degree in K-12 Physical Education with endorsements in coaching and driver’s education along with a Master’s Degree in K-12 administration, supervision of P.E. (combination master’s) from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and additional hours from Chadron State College where I served as adjunct faculty, supervisor of the physical activity center/intramurals, wellness program, facilities/grounds supervisor, pool, assistant men’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator/strength and conditioning coach. After working for 8 years as an assistant men’s basketball coach at UNK, Chadron State College and Montana State University; I returned to Nebraska with my family and began my administrative career serving as a K-12 principal, activities director and coached at various schools until my arrival in West Point. Career experiences gained via exposure to and working with such a variety of educators, administrators, administrators, students and parents would be too numerous to list and discuss in this small space. I would say that my last position as a PK=-6 principal and administrator of a SIG grant better prepared me for this position as I was trained and worked hands on with RMDi, Saxon Math programs, Federal grants, wrote the district appraisal instruments for all areas, in addition to many other lessons learned and trainings in that position.
I look forward to continuing my education and growth at West Point during the time I am here.
