High School Student Council
West Point High School Student Council
Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to run for a student council office. The candidate for President must be in grades 10-12. Candidate for Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer must be in grades 9-11. Candidates are to file for office beginning the last Monday in April and ending on the first Monday in May. Elections will be held on the 2nd Monday in May.
A Student Council representative or officer may serve as a class officer as well.
It is recommended that a Student Council officer attend the Student Council Leadership Conference. The representative will be President, Vice-President, or Secretary-Treasurer in order as available.
The purpose of the Student Council is to: (1) Encourage student participation in activities, (2) provide a means of creating a better fellowship and understanding between faculty and students and among students themselves, (3) promote the general welfare of the school and (4) provide an opportunity for student participation in decision making.
