6 years ago in Cadet History...
Back in 2019, students were making TikToks for the first time, streaming Disney+, listening to Old Town Road, and debating whether dark mode should be used on every app.
The 2019–2020 school year was one that nobody will ever forget. It began with Friday night lights, softball games, school dances, and all the excitement that comes with being a Cadet—and ended as one of the most unique school years in history facing the challenges of COVID-19.
This week's pages featured our Girls Softball team, who spent their fall competing and made it to the EHC Championship game, along with Prom, one of the most anticipated traditions of every high school year, which was rescheduled for mid-July!
While the year took some wild, unexpected turns, the memories and Cadet pride remained stronger than ever.

89 years ago in Cadet History…
Back in 1938, students were listening to big band music on the radio, going to movies for a few cents, and reading about the newly opened Golden Gate Bridge. The 1937–1938 school year looked a little different than today, but Cadets were just as busy making memories, competing, and celebrating school traditions.
This week's pages featured enrollment numbers, the always-anticipated Sneak Day, athletic competitions, and even a boxing team!
Along with sports and activities, freshmen also experienced Freshman Day, a tradition that brought plenty of excitement (and probably a little nervousness) to their first year of high school.
While the world has changed quite a bit over the last 89 years, one thing remains true: Cadets have always found ways to learn, compete, celebrate, and make lasting memories together.

45 years ago in Cadet History...
Back in 1980, students were listening to Queen's Another One Bites the Dust, watching The Dukes of Hazzard on TV, and probably hoping their cassette tape wouldn't unravel in the car stereo.
The 1980-1981 yearbook took students on a journey through the theme "Roads Thru Time," capturing the many paths that made up life at WPHS.
This week’s pages highlighted the dedicated students behind the Annual, the talented cast and crew of the musical "Hello Dolly!", members of VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) developing skills for future careers, and the Cadet athletes who proudly carried the spirit of competition throughout the year.
Whether on the stage, in the shop, in the classroom, or on the field, these Cadets were making memories that still take us down the road of nostalgia 45 years later.

59 years ago in Cadet History...
The 1966-1967 school year reminded students that “For everything there is a season.” There was a time for learning in the classroom, a time to give their all for WPHS, and a time to celebrate big victories.
Back in 1966, students were listening to The Monkees and The Beatles on the radio, watching the very first season of Star Trek, and cruising around town in classic muscle cars that would turn heads.
Students were hard at work in their studies, school activities, and athletics—culminating in a special celebration as the West Point High School football team captured the Husker Conference Championship!
Nearly six decades later, the fashions may have changed, but the pride of representing West Point and celebrating championship success remains the same!
